LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The 2018-19 season came with many accomplishments among several Loyola Marymount coaches, including WCC Coach of the Year awards and milestone wins.
Softball head coach
Sami Strinz-Ward won her third West Coast Conference Coach of the Year award after leading the Lions to a 40-21 season, which includes an NISC Regional title. This was Strinz-Ward's third award in four years.
Beach Volleyball head coach
John Mayer won his first WCC Coach of the Year Award after leading the Lions to their first ever conference championship, as the team beat Pepperdine twice, to win the title. Mayer led the team to a 27-11 season, which includes several wins over ranked opponents.
Baseball head coach
Jason Gill picked up his 300
th career win in March after he led the Lions to a 5-1 win over San Diego State, which marked the team's sixth win in a row. Gill led the team to a WCC Championship, automatically qualifying the Lions to participate in the NCAA tournament, Gill's first stint with the Lions.
Men's basketball head coach
Mike Dunlap marked his 400
th career NCAA victory in January after leading the LMU to a 76-64 win over Portland and giving him twice as many career wins as losses, with an overall record of 400-200. Dunlap led the Lions to a 22-12 season and to the semifinals at the College Basketball Invitational.
