Sophomore pitcher
Nick Frasso has officially accepted an invitation to the 2019 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team training camp, it was announced by USA Baseball.
The talented pitcher becomes the fifth Lion in program history to be associated with one of the USA Baseball National Teams and the first LMU player since Colton Plaia in 2012.
"It means a lot and is an honor to be able to have a chance to represent my country as well as LMU," said Frasso.
In 2019, Frasso appeared in 19 games, starting five while leading the team in saves with 10. He was recognized as a member of the All-WCC Second Team as well as the WCC All-Tournament Team. His 2.22 ERA placed him second on the team, while he led the Lions in opposing team batting average at .154. He was second on the team in batters struck out with 73 while leading the team in games finished at 13. The Rancho Palos Verdes, native, allowed only 30 hits in his 56.2 innings pitched on the year. In 2018 as a true freshman, he appeared in 16 games, starting eight with an ERA of 3.15 and a record of 4-4 and one save. He was an Honorable Mention All-WCC and WCC All-Freshman selection.
Frasso currently is playing in the Cape Cod League for the Orleans Firebirds, appearing in two games, with an ERA of 0.00 with one strikeout and one win.
The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team will participate in series of four intrasquad exhibition games and a game against the Coastal Plain League Select before announcing a 26-man roster prior to the 8th USA vs. Cuba International Friendship Series that will take place July 2-6 in Cary, Charlotte, Durham and Hickory, North Carolina. Team USA's 26-man roster will then travel to Taiwan for the 19th USA vs. Chinese Taipei International Friendship Series after which USA Baseball will announce a final 24-man roster to compete in the 43rd USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series from July 16-21 in Japan.
