Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif., --The Loyola Marymount women's tennis team swept Saint Mary's 4-0 in the first round of the West Coast Conference Championships, advancing to the semifinals.
The Lions quick sweep began with doubles play, as
Elvira Juravliova and
Camila Tumosa beat Jordan Harris and Danielle McIntyre 6-3 on court three. Siohban Anderson and
Lillian Gabrielsen picked up a quick 6-3 win over Clementine Clement and Chloe Goyette 6-3, clinching the doubles point for the Lions.
Up 1-0, the Lions continued their momentum in singles play, where Yesica De Lucas put the first singles point on the board after beating Liesl Pieters 6-2, 6-1 on court five.
Tumosa picked up another win for the Lions, as she beat Aubane Ville on court six, 6-3, 6-4. Juravliova beat Harris on court four, 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the match for the Lions.
LMU's win over the Gaels advances the team to the semifinal round, where the Lions will take on No. 1 Pepperdine at 10:00 am.
