Former Loyola Marymount standout soccer player Adrien Perez signed a deal with the Los Angeles Football Club of Major League Soccer. Perez was one of three players the club signed as trialists in the preseason.
As a member of LMU's soccer team Perez was an All-WCC selection in three of his four years, appearing on the first team twice and the second team once. He finished his career third all-time in points with 55 and fourth all-time in goals with 21.
"Adrien has worked very hard for this opportunity. He has been going after it non-stop since his eligibility expired here at LMU. He was certainly one of the most dangerous attacking players I've worked with at the college level and I always felt he was good enough to play professionally. I'm elated for him and wish him the very best. I'm sure we will be hearing great things from him coming from LAFC," said LMU head soccer coach Paul Krumpe.
Perez started his collegiate career with a prolific rookie season, leading the team in scoring and total points with 11 goals, five assists and 27 points. He set the LMU record for shots with 68 and his 11 goals tied for second in school history pre cord book. He was recognized as a member of the WCC All-Freshman Team and was one of four players to appear in all 20 matches, earning 18 starts in 1,731 minutes played.
Perez, 23, signs with LAFC after most recently playing indoor soccer in the MASL with the Ontario Fury, leading the team in points and goals. A native of Ontario, Calif., Perez will likely serve as depth for LAFC's attacking corps.
LAFC open the 2019 MLS regular season on March 3 at home against Sporting Kansas City.
