LOS ANGELES Calif., -- Loyola Marymount's Chelsey Gipson was named the West Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday. 
 
Gipson earned the honor after leading the Lions to a 2-0 road sweep last week, including a 69-60 victory over Santa Clara on Thursday and a 73-66 win over USF on Saturday. 
 
The sophomore led the Lions in points in both games, as she had 25 against Santa Clara and 27 against USF, averaging 26 on the week. The guard also set her career high in assists against Santa Clara with seven. 
 
Over the week, Gipson averaged .652 percent from the field, including .643 percent from the three-point range and .867 from the free throw line. 
 
Gipson's combined 52 points last week makes her the No. 2 leading scorer in the conference, climbing up three spots from last week and averaging 18.9 points per conference game and 17.1 for the season. 
 
The guard now leads the conference in three-point field goals made, averaging 2.4 a game. 
 
Gipson and the rest of the Lions will be back home on Friday to take on Pepperdine at 7 p.m.
