Jody Burrows Elevated to Associate Head Coach for LMU Women's Basketball

LOS ANGELES, CA - LMU Women's Basketball Head Coach Aarika Hughes has announced the promotion of Jody Burrows to Associate Head Coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Burrows enters her fifth year with the Lions after joining the program in 2022 as Director of Basketball Operations. Following two seasons in that role, she moved to the bench as an assistant coach in 2024-25 and has played an important role in the continued growth and success of the program.

"Jody has been a vital part of our program since the day she arrived at LMU," said Hughes. "She is an exceptional coach, mentor, and leader who pours everything she has into the success of our student-athletes and our team. Her work ethic, basketball knowledge, and commitment to building meaningful relationships have made a tremendous impact on our program. This promotion is a reflection of the value she brings to our staff every day, and I couldn't be more excited for her to take on this expanded role."

Over the past four seasons, Burrows has helped LMU build momentum within the West Coast Conference, culminating in a historic 2025-26 campaign that saw the Lions capture the WCC Regular Season Championship, earn a postseason berth, and finish with one of the best records in program history.

Prior to arriving at LMU, Burrows accumulated coaching experience across both the Division I and Division III levels. Most recently, she served as an assistant coach at Bates College, helping guide the Bobcats to an 18-8 record in the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Burrows also spent time at the U.S. Naval Academy, where the Midshipmen set a school record for wins during her first season on staff. Earlier stops included Case Western Reserve University, where she helped lead the Spartans to their highest win total since 2001, and Oberlin College, where she focused on strength and conditioning and player development.

A former student-athlete at Northeastern University, Burrows began her coaching career at her alma mater after serving as a three-year team captain for the Huskies. She finished her playing career ranked sixth in program history with 143 assists.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Burrows has worked extensively in athlete development through her role as Director of Client Relations for Student Athlete World.

Burrows becomes the program's second Associate Head Coach, joining Brooke Atkinson on Aarika Hughes' staff as the Lions prepare for the 2026-27 season.
