LOS ANGELES, CA - Loyola Marymount women's basketball head coach Aarika Hughes was recently featured on the MidMajorBasketball.com Women's Basketball Podcast, joining host Derryl Trujillo for an in-depth conversation about the Lions' historic 2025-26 season, the program's continued growth, and the outlook for the upcoming campaign.

During the episode, Hughes reflected on LMU's remarkable turnaround that culminated in the program's first outright West Coast Conference Regular Season Championship since 2003-04. After being picked ninth in the WCC preseason poll, the Lions exceeded expectations by posting a 21-10 overall record, a program-best 15-3 conference mark, and earning a berth in the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament.

Hughes also discussed the program's offseason, including the addition of five transfers and one freshman to the 2026-27 roster, the philosophy behind constructing LMU's challenging non-conference schedule, and the culture that has become the foundation of the Lions' recent success. 2026-27 Schedule
The Lions will host new WCC member Denver, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary's, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Clara, and Seattle U during the 2026–27 campaign. The full non-conference schedule will be announced later this summer, with WCC game dates and times to follow. Single-game tickets will go on sale to the general public early this fall.
