WCC Unveils 2026-27 Women’s Basketball Schedule for LMU

LOS ANGELES – The West Coast Conference has unveiled LMU women's basketball's 2026-27 conference schedule, setting the stage for the Lions to defend their WCC Regular Season Championship in a new-look league.

LMU enters the season following one of the most successful campaigns in program history. The Lions finished 15-3 in WCC play, setting a program record for conference victories while capturing their first regular-season conference championship since 2003-04.

The championship run was part of a 21-win season that also featured a nine-game winning streak, LMU's first victory over Gonzaga since 2008 and the program's first postseason appearance since 2019. Head coach Aarika Hughes was named WCC Coach of the Year following the breakthrough campaign.

The Lions begin their title defense at home, welcoming Seattle to Gersten Pavilion on New Year's Eve for a Dec. 31 conference opener. LMU remains on the Bluff to begin 2027 with a matchup against Saint Mary's on Jan. 2.
LMU's first conference road trip follows with visits to San Francisco on Jan. 7 and Santa Clara on Jan. 9.

The Lions then return to Gersten Pavilion for consecutive home games, hosting Portland on Jan. 14 and Pacific on Jan. 16, before making a Southern California road swing to face rival Pepperdine on Jan. 21 and San Diego on Jan. 23.
January closes with a split week for LMU. The Lions welcome San Francisco to Gersten Pavilion on Jan. 28 before traveling north to face Pacific on Jan. 30.

A new chapter in the conference schedule begins in February when Denver visits Gersten Pavilion on Feb. 4 for the first meeting between the Lions and Pioneers as WCC opponents.
Denver joins the conference for the 2026-27 season, adding a new destination and opponent to LMU's league slate.

The Lions remain home to face Pepperdine on Feb. 6 before embarking on their longest road stretch of conference play. LMU travels to Portland on Feb. 11, Seattle on Feb. 13 and Denver on Feb. 18, with the trip to Colorado marking the Lions' first WCC road game against the Pioneers.

LMU returns to Los Angeles for two of its final three regular-season games.

The Lions host San Diego on Feb. 20 before welcoming Santa Clara on Feb. 25 for the final regular-season game at Gersten Pavilion.

LMU closes the regular season on the road at Saint Mary's on Feb. 27.

With a championship to defend and a reshaped conference awaiting them, the Lions enter the 2026-27 WCC season looking to build on a year that reset expectations for the program. LMU returns several members of last season's title-winning group, including senior Maya Hernandez, a 2025-26 All-WCC First Team selection, as the Lions pursue another run at the top of the conference standings.
