LMU Athletics has selected Jenny Bindon as the women's soccer program's sixth head coach. Bindon joins will lead the Lions following three seasons as an assistant coach for the nationally-ranked UCLA women's soccer team. Bindon represented New Zealand on the national team for 10 years, and her 77 career caps is the most by a goalkeeper, men's or women's, in New Zealand's history. She competed at the 2007 and 2011 Women's World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games, playing every minute at the 2012 Olympics to lead the Football Ferns to a program-best quarterfinal finish. Bindon also led New Zealand to runner-up finishes at the 2008 Peace Queen Cup and 2011 Cyprus Cup.
 
The West Coast Conference has announced the 2019 West Coast Conference Women's and Men's Soccer All-Academic Teams. Five members of LMU women's soccer has been recognized for their year in the classroom and on the field. On the men's side, four Lions were featured on All-Academic Teams.
 
WWPA Player of the Year Blazo Mitrovic has earned his second ACWPC Men's All-America in as many years on Tuesday. The LMU sophomore has been named an ACWPC Division I Honorable Mention All-American, the 37th selection in program history. A First Team All-WWPA, Mitrovic became the program's eighth Western Water Polo Association Player of Year this fall after scoring a career-high 97 goals to finish second in the conference. His career-high 123 points were third-most in the WWPA. Mitrovic averaged 3.73 goals per game and 4.73 points per game. His 34 goals in conference games led the WWPA.
 
Collegiate Baseball News released their 2020 Preseason All-American team on Tuesday and Loyola Marymount University Lions right-handed pitcher Nick Frasso was named to the Second Team while infielder Trevin Esquerra was selected to the Third Team. Frasso is coming off a season where he appeared in 19 games, starting five while leading the team in saves with 10. He was recognized as a member of the All-WCC Second Team as well as the WCC All-Tournament Team in 2019. Esquerra led the team in numerous offensive categories in 2019 including batting average at .322, hits (75), homeruns (16), doubles (20), RBIs (60), slugging percentage (.622) and was recognized as a member of the All-WCC Second Team and ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I West All-Region Second Team.
 
Both men's and women's basketball won a game last week. Eli Scott lifted LMU men's basketball to a second-half comeback, scoring 26 in the 53-46 win. Despite scoring only 53 points, the Lions held Cal State Fullerton to a season-low 46 points. LMU shot 50 percent from the field in the second half to outscore the Titans by 13 in the final 20 minutes. The women's basketball team had a dominating fourth quarter on Thursday to come back to beat University of New Mexico behind a dominating performance by Jasmine Jones at the Lobo Invitational. Catch the double header on Dec. 28, as the women open conference play against BYU at 2 p.m. and the men host Morgan State later that evening at 7 p.m.
