Box Score

Gonzaga connected for four home runs, including a grand slam from Carson Breshears, en route to capturing an 11-1 Sunday win that also handed the Bulldogs (22-19, 12-9 WCC) a three-game series win over the Lions (20-24, 12-9 WCC) from the Patterson Baseball Complex.

HOME RUNS GUIDE THE WAY: Gonzaga hit four home runs on Sunday afternoon, including a pair from designated hitter Nick Brooks. Brooks connected for a two-run homer to highlight a three-run third, and then launched the second of the day ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" a solo shot ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" to left field in the fifth. Brooks has now hit five on the year. The biggest homer didn't belong to Brooks, but came from second baseman Carson Breshears, as the left-hand hitter belted a grand slam in the second inning to put Gonzaga on top, 4-0. The round-tripper was the first of the year for Breshears. The final home run came in the eighth inning, as Jace VanDeBrake connected for a pinch-hit solo homer on the first pitch of the at bat.

THE DECISIONS: Lefty Mac Lardner earned the victory for Gonzaga after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing just one run on six hits with seven strikeouts. The lone Lion run of the game came in the third as Brandon Shearer doubled and came home on an RBI-single from Nick Sogard. The victory moved Lardner to 5-2 on the season. Sophomore Josh Agnew was saddled with the loss and fell to 5-4 after surrendering seven runs on five hits and two walks over 3.0 innings.
