With the match tied at 3-3, and hinging on the play at court four, freshman Yesica De Lucas outlasted Gonzaga's Domonique Garley, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 to capture a victory for LMU (17-5) over the Bulldogs (16-7) that sends LMU into the Championship Final match against top-seed #11 Pepperdine on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Lions earned the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead in the match score after #30 Veronica Miroshnichenko / Eva Marie Voracek combined for a 6-3 win over #32 Sophie Whittle/Graciela Rosas on the top court, followed by Elvira Juravliova / De Lucas' 6-4 win over Garley/Ketels on court three.

Whittle responded with an upset victory at #1 singles to even the match score at 1-1 for Gonzaga. Whittle, ranked #79 according to ITA, upended #45 Veronica Miroshnichenko, 6-2, 6-2.

The Lions would win the next two courts, taking what seemed to be a commanding 3-1 lead in the match score. Juravliova got the first win, cruising to a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Haruna Tsuruta on court five before Siobhan Anderson bested Rosas, 6-4, 6-3 on court three.

Gonzaga proved its worth as the #2 seed in the tournament, rallying to post victories on six and two to draw back even at 3-3. Ketels took down Camila Tumosa on court six, 6-4, 6-4, and Nevada Apollo won a hard-fought match against Voracek, 7-6 (5), 6-4, on court two to leave the decision to De Lucas and Garley.

LMU will now prepare for Saturday's Championship Final against #11 Pepperdine. LMU suffered a 4-1 setback at the hands of Pepperdine earlier this year. LMU has beaten Pepperdine only twice in program history, first en route to winning the 2002 WCC Championship, and then again in 2003.
