Leading 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, LMU (18-22, 11-7 WCC) hung a five in the runs column in the home half of the inning, including three on a bases-clearing double from Kenny Oyama, to salvage a three-game series with Portland (15-23, 8-10 WCC) by way of an 8-2 win on Sunday from LMU's Page Stadium.
BIG DAY FOR OYAMA: Oyama had the biggest hit of the day for LMU, lacing a three-RBI double over the head of Cody Hawken in left field to highlight a five-run seventh inning that allowed LMU to blow the game open. Oyama finished the contest 2-for-3 with a run scored, a walk, the three RBI and a stolen base.
AGNEW SOLID IN START: Right-hander Josh Agnew was stellar on the mound for LMU on Sunday, dealing 7.0 innings and allowing just two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out a pair. Agnew was credited with the win, moving to 5-3 on the season as he turned in his sixth quality start of the season.
BOX SCORE NOTES: Nick Sogard collected his team-leading 13th multi-hit game of the year, batting 3-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI ââ'¬¦ sophomore Cooper Uhl also had multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and one RBI ââ'¬¦ Braydon Salzman and Josh Robins combined to throw the final 2.0 scoreless innings to seal the victory ââ'¬¦ Camden Muller was charged with the loss for Portland after allowing three runs on five hits and four walks over the first 4.0 innings ââ'¬¦ the Lions left 12 runners on base, while the Pilots left nine.
LION NOTES: The Lions are now 6-3 in games started by Agnew ââ'¬¦ LMU snapped a four-game losing streak with the victory on Sunday.
