Capturing a share of second place with Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference standings in the process, LMU women's tennis (15-5, 7-2 WCC) defeated San Francisco, 5-0, on Saturday from the Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif.

The second-place finish in the WCC is the best since LMU placed second in 2006.

LMU seemingly cruised to the victory, capturing 6-2 and 6-3 victories on courts one and two in doubles. #28 Veronica Miroshnichenko / Eva Marie Voracek won on court two, followed by Anna Romeka / Siobhan Anderson with the win on court two.

Miroshnichenko, the #51 singles player in the nation, posted a 6-0, 6-4, win over Emily Maxfield on court one, as LMU won four singles matches on the day.

At the second spot in the order, Voracek nailed down a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Anna Sokiran. Freshman Yesica De Lucas defeated Hanna Borjeson, 6-4, 6-1 at #4 in the order, while Elvira Juravliova knocked off Shanna Dos Santos, 6-3, 6-4, on court five to hand LMU one more point.

The Lions, the third seed in next week's WCC Championship, will open play from the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif. with a 1 p.m. match against the sixth seed on Thursday.
