#15 LMU beach volleyball (22-14) reached the semifinal round of play from the 2018 West Coast Conference Championships, but eventually dropped the match, 3-2, to #19 Saint Mary's. The Lions, playing as the #2 seed in the tournament, beat Pacific to advance to the match against the third-seeded Gaels.

LMU dropped three of the five first-set decisions to Pacific, but rebounded nicely to capture a convincing 4-1 victory. McKayla Ferris / Savannah Slattery earned a 21-10, 21-15 victory on court one, while Sara Kovac / Jessie Prichard wrapped up a three-set triumph with a 15-11 win in the third on court two.

Playing at #4 in the order, Bozena Culo / Maddie Leiphardt also came from behind, capturing a 20-22, 21-15, 15-9 victory. Cierra Simpson / Kristen Castellanos needed just two sets to get past their opponents on court five, capturing a 21-12, 21-11 win.

For the second straight day, LMU took a loss at the hands of Saint Mary's. Just as the Lions were able to do in the first match of the day, the Gaels rebounded after dropping three of the five first sets, outlasting LMU on courts two, four and five.

Ferris/Slattery defeated Payton Rund/Morgan Hughes, 21-16, 13-21, 15-8, on court one, while Veronica Nederend / Emma Doud took down Sarah Chase/Mary Hernandez, 21-15, 19-21, 15-10, on court three.

The selection show for the 2018 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship is set for Sunday, April 29.
