Hosting Saint Mary's in the first home West Coast Conference match of the year, LMU women's tennis (9-4, 1-1 WCC) posted a convincing sweep over Saint Mary's (8-6, 2-1 WCC) from the LMU Tennis Center on Wednesday morning.
LMU captured the doubles point by way of 6-1 victories on courts two and three. Elvira Juravliova and Yesica De Lucas teamed to defeat Clementine Clement/Aubane Ville on court three before Siobhan Anderson / Anna Romeka clinched the point with a victory over Emma Critser/Kareena Manji on court two.
LMU won every first set in singles play, and Camila Tumosa was the first to finish on court six, managing a 6-1, 6-3 win over Vanessa Nommensen to make it 2-0 LMU in the match score. Anderson, playing on court three, followed with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Clement before Eva Marie Voracek took down Hiind Abdelouahid, 6-4, 6-4, on court two to clinch the match.
#35 Veronica Miroshnichenko was closing in on victory over #106 Mariia Kozyreva, 7-5, 5-3, but Voracek's win put an early cap on the play at #1 singles.
LMU will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Pacific at 11 a.m.
