Playing on the road at UC Santa Barbara, LMU women's tennis (8-2) captured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over the Gauchos (6-9) on Sunday afternoon. The Lions have now won seven straight matches, and the victory over UCSB was the first since 2008.

LMU won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match score, as the #33 pair of Veronica Miroshnichenko / Eva Marie Voracek managed a 7-6 (6) victory over #39 Palina Dubavets / Natalie Da Silveria on court one doubles. After UCSB won on court two to even the doubles scoring, Yesica De Lucas / Sofiya Gaisina defeated Stephanie Yamada / Lise Sentenac, 6-4, on court three.

Now needing to win three singles matches to clinch the victory, LMU received a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win from #30 Miroshnichenko at the top of the order. UCSB's Amit Lev Ari got UCSB on the board with a win on court four, but Voracek followed with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph over da Silveria on court two to push LMU to within a win of the team victory. UCSB would again stay alive with a win on court three, but Elvira Juravliova secured the win for LMU by taking down Lise Sentenac, 6-4, 7-6 (3) on court five.

LMU will return to action on March 17 when it travels to Tempe, Ariz. to face Arizona State at 11 a.m. That match is the final tune-up before WCC play begins on March 24 at Pepperdine.
