LMU women's tennis (5-2) used strength in singles play en route to capturing a 6-1 victory over SMU (6-6) on Tuesday from the LMU Tennis Center.

The Lions won all six singles matches to avenge a doubles point loss. #22 Veronica Miroshnichenko/Eva Marie Voracek did manage a doubles victory, topping Karina Traxler/Sara Monarrez, 6-2, at the top of the order.

Led by #27 Miroshnichenko at #1 singles, LMU was perfect in singles play, as Miroshnichenko was first to finish with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Liza Buss.

Voracek, LMU's #2 singles player, followed with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 win over Anzhelika Shapovalova to put LMU ahead 2-1 in the match score before Siobhan Anderson captured a 6-4, 7-5 win over Traxler at #3 singles.

Needing one more decision to seal the team win, LMU received the clincher on court five as Elvira Juravliova defeated Sara Monarrez Yesaki, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.

Though the match was already decided, the two teams played out the remaining courts, including going to a 10-point tiebreaker on court four. There, freshman Yesica De Lucas topped Nicole Petchey, 4-6, 7-6 (6), 10-7. That tiebreaking win followed a 7-6 (4), 0-6, 6-1 win for Camila Tumosa on court six.

LMU, winner of four straight matches, will stay at home this weekend, welcoming Penn to campus on Sunday for an 11 a.m. contest.
