The LMU women's tennis team will make the short trip to San Diego from Thursday through Monday to compete in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, hosted by the ITA and University of San Diego.
The tournament will be hosted by San Diego at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. There will be a singles draw of 128 with a consolation bracket created after the first round and a doubles draw of 64. The action will begin on Thursday morning. Competitors from institution throughout the southwest region will be in attendance, including LMU, Pepperdine, UCLA, USC, San Diego, Grand Canyon, Hawai'i, Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, UC Santa Barbara, San Diego State, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, Arizona State and CSUN.
LMU most recently competed at the USC Invitational last weekend. Sophomore
Eva Marie Voracek picked up three wins against opponents from Arizona, Cal State Fullerton and USC, while
Siobhan Anderson and
Yesica de Lucas posted a pair of wins.
The ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country. In Division I, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz.
