Conference Release | 2017-18 LMU Men's Golf Schedule
SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Loyola Marymount junior Riley Elmes highlights the 2017-18 West Coast Conference men's golf preseason All-WCC team, the conference announced Thursday. Elmes is coming off a spectacular sophomore campaign, where he earned first-team all-conference accolades.
Elmes lowered his stroke average from 75.39 as a freshman to 71.72 last season and finished in the top five of tournaments four times last year. His stroke average in 2016-17 was second only to Brian Locke 71.00 in 2006-07 in LMU's program records since 2003. Elmes (70-66-74--210) benefited from a career-low 66 in the second round to place second overall at the 21st Del Walker Intercollegiate.
As a team, the Lions were predicted to finish in a tie for fifth with San Francisco in the conference standings. Pepperdine was picked first and finished with eight first place votes, with BYU receiving the other. Saint Mary's and Santa Clara were picked third and fourth, respectively.
