WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - With the clock ticking down, the Loyola Marymount women's soccer team found its rhythm late. Despite trailing since before halftime, the Lions (1-1-0) found the back of the net twice in the game's final six minutes to take the victory away from Purdue (1-1-0), 2-1.

"I felt that we played so much better than we did the other night, but at the same time we made a mistake that they capitalized on," said Head Coach Michelle Myers. "We're still trying to figure out the new bodies, but I'm super pleased with the way we played and to battle back and never give up. It's been a long trip with full travel days, so we are all looking forward to getting back home and out of the humidity."

Defensive pressure allowed LMU to push the ball forward and earn on of its game-high eight corner kicks. The Lions elected to play the ball short and Tatyanna Lewis and Skylar Robledo paired up to serve it into the box, finding sophomore Phoebe Riley who slotted home the equalizer tying the game in the 84th minute.

Not becoming complacent with a tie score, the Lions continued its strong play and pushing the ball forward. Riley found freshman Kami Hoban who fired a gem from 30 yards out to give LMU the go-ahead goal and eventually the win with two and a half minutes remaining on the clock.

Between the two goals, Charlee Pruitt made a tip save that kept the game tied at 1-1 with 4:50 remaining in the game. The junior goalkeeper leaped to get her fingertip on the ball and redirect it to hit the crossbar as one of her three saves.

The Boilermakers opened the scoring with a 35th minute goal. Purdue's Hannah Melchiorre went on the break and was able to dribble free in the box around Pruitt and finish on the open net.

The game was halted with 14 seconds remaining on the clock due to lightning in the area. The referees resumed the final seconds with a Purdue free kick following the 20-plus minute delay. The Boilermakers recorded one final shot that went wide with five seconds on the clock before the game officially went final.

The Lions return to Sullivan Field for Sunday's home opener against Northwestern. The return to campus marks the start of a season-long six-game home stretch.
