LOS ANGELES - The new season of Loyola Marymount men's basketball has arrived and the new-look Lions will get their first game action on Friday as they host an exhibition game against Vanguard.

LMU returns two seniors, Steven Haney, Jr. and Petr Herman, to one of the youngest rosters in the country. The Lions have six freshmen and four sophomores on the roster, joining Tennessee (10), Toledo (10), Wofford (10), Auburn (12), and Kentucky (12) as Division I schools with double-digit underclassmen.

The 2017-18 Lions also features three incoming transfers with junior James Batemon and sophomore Cameron Allen filling the point guard role voided by graduated All-Conference honoree, Brandon Brown. The Lions brought in length on the wing with 6-foot-7 sophomore Dylan Causwell.

Jeffery McClendon closes out the junior class and looks to continue to improve points and minute totals like he did from his first and second season.

The sophomore returners are highlighted by the Swedish pair of sharpshooter Erik Johansson and center Mattias Markusson who jumped to 7-foot-3 over the offseason.

While youth is on the LMU side, Friday's opponent Vanguard is the opposite. The VU Lions return five players who started in 92 contests last year, and have add four transfers all with NCAA Division I experience. Concordia began the season this past Saturday with a 71-62 exhibition loss to Concordia.
