BRIEFLY...James Batemon finished his second season of collegiate basketball at LMU in 2018-19... Named All-WCC First Team in 2018-19 and All-WCC Second Team and WCC All-Tournament Team in 2017-18... 1,000-point scorer at LMU… An All-American transfer from North Dakota State College of Science and a native of Milwaukee, Wis.

IN 2018-19 • SENIOR... Started and played all 34 games, tying the program record in both categories… Played 1201 minutes over the course of the season, the third most for an LMU player in any given season in school history… Led the Lions in scoring for the second straight season with 16.4 points per game… Scored his 1,000th career point of his two-year career on Feb. 23 in the win over Pacific, becoming the 35th LMU player to hit the 1,000 point milestone… Matched his career-high with 30 points against Boise State (12/19/18), including hitting the coast-to-coast game-winner with no time remaining to help LMU win by one… Only player to score 25 or more points in a game for the Lions, hitting the mark six different times… Jamaica Classic Montego Bay Division MVP, WCC Player of the Week (11/19/18), Madness National Men’s Basketball Player of the Week (11/19/19) after scoring 27 points against Georgetown (11/16/18), on 13-for-13 free throw shooting, and 16 points against Ohio (11/18/19) to lift the Lions to the Jamaica Classic championship… Led the West Coast Conference in with 54 steals… Named to the Lou Henson Award Watch List… All-WCC First Team.
 
IN 2017-18 • JUNIOR... Started and played in 30 of 31 games in his first season with the Lions... Led LMU in scoring and averaged 17.8 points per game to lead all newcomers in the conference and rank fourth overall in the WCC... Finished with a pair of 30 point games, both on the road at Washington (12/17/17) and at San Diego (1/13/18)... Recorded LMU's only points/assists double-double on the season with his 13 point and 10 assist game in the PCH Cup win over Pepperdine (2/10/18)... Led LMU in scoring in 15 games and in 20 games... Recorded 12 of LMU's top 13 single-game scoring output (30, 30, 29, 29, 28, 27, 26, 26, 25, 25, 23, 23) and top five single game assists (12, 10, 8, 7, 7)... Named to the WCC All-Tournament team after scoring 29 points in the win over Portland (3/2/18) and 27 points in the quarterfinals against #7 Gonzaga (3/3/18) and shooting 50 percent from the field and 83 percent from the line for the tournament... Tied the program record with 100 percent free throw shooting at both Incarnate Word (11/22/17) and Portland (2/3/18)... His 12 made free throws against Incarnate Word (11/22/17) is tied for seventh-most in program history and his 11 made free throws against Portland (3/2/18) are third most in program WCC Tournament history... Made 157 free throws on the season, 14th most in school history... Played 1050 minutes and averaged 35.0 minutes per game which stand as 12th and 17th all-time in single season LMU history... Set a career-high with 12 assists in the win over Cal State LA (11/28/17)... Swiped 1.2 steals per game, good for seventh-most in the WCC... Shot the 14th-best percentage in the WCC, at 47.6 percent. His4.7 assists per game were fourth best in the conference this season... His 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio was the ninth-best in the league... Led the team and finished seventh in the league after shooting an impressive 80.1 percent from the line. Rounded out the WCC top-15 with his 39.1 percent shooting from long distance... Finished one point of the program record for best scoring game to open a career with his 23-point performance against UT Arlington (11/11/17)… Finished the 2017-18 season as the only WCC player to finish in the top-five in both scoring and assists... Named All-WCC Second Team and WCC All-Tournament Team in 2017-18.

BEFORE LMU...Batemon graduated from Riverside University High School... Served as captain his junior and senior seasons and was all-league as a sophomore, junior, and senior... Named first team all-state in his senior season... Played for the Milwaukee Bulldogs in 2014... Prior to transferring to LMU, Batemon was a two-time All-America point guard at North Dakota State College of Science (2nd Team in 2016 and Honorable Mention in 2015), where he finished his two seasons second all-time in points scored.

PERSONAL... James Batemon was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wis., and is the son of Lisa and James Batemon... Majoring in psychology.
