LOS ANGELES - - LMU men's water polo will host nine home games in the 2016 season, as the upcoming fall schedule was released. The season begins on Sept. 3 while the Lions will play their home opener on Sept. 9 against UC Santa Barbara. LMU Sports Network caught up with Head Coach John Loughran to talk about the upcoming schedule.

As they have traditionally done most every year, the Lions will open with the loaded UC San Diego Triton Invitational on Sept. 3. They will then take on national power UCLA at Del Mar High School on Sept. 4.
The Gauchos begin the Lions' home slate on Sept. 9 at 3 pm. The Lions will then host the first Conference Challenge Cup as the Western Water Polo Association takes on foes from the newly formed Golden Coast Conference. The Lions will host UC Irvine at 10:30 am and then Pepperdine at 2:30 pm on Sept. 17.
The home schedule continues with a three-game home stand against Fresno Pacific (Sept. 24), La Verne (Oct. 1) and WWPA foe Air Force (3 pm). They will also host Claremont on Oct. 14, followed by the final two home games in conference play. They will host Concordia on Oct. 27 and then senior day will be Oct. 29 against California Baptist.
The 2016 WWPA Championships will be held at Santa Clara on Nov. 18-20. The winner earns the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
