May 1, 2016 Having already announced three signees for 2016, including Savannah Slattery and Jess Prichard, and setter, Tess Reid, LMU volleyball head coach Tom Black added three more for 2016 last week.
Kameryn Hill, Alexis Morrow and Emma Johnson are all committed to play for LMU in the fall.
"These three young ladies enhance a very strong incoming class of student-athletes who personify what we are all about -- learning at the highest level possible to become the best we can be," Black said. "We cannot wait to get going in August as our strong nucleus of returners and exciting incoming class are finally allowed to combine into one single 2016 LMU women's volleyball team."
Hill is a two-time National Champion as the starting libero with the AZ Storm in 2014 and 2015. She is still the starting libero of the top-ranked AZ Storm 18-1. She has earned All-State division I first team honors and has repeatedly been recognized with All-District and All-Tribune first team awards. Hill has anchored her club team to seven Open Division bids, including first place at the Colorado Crossroads, SCVA Qualifier, and twice at the Salt Lake Invitational. She was also honored with a selection to the Westwood TOC All-Tournament team.
"Kam has firmly established herself as one of the nation's top liberos," Black said. "When you see the way she goes about her business day in and day out, match after match, you quickly see why. She is an on-court leader for one of the best club teams in the country. She wants every ball to be served in her direction, and she treats every opportunity to dig like it's her last. Kam's level of play is a direct result of the passion she competes with every minute on the court. Her coaches have done an exceptional job with her and she will be a great addition to a very strong backcourt for us."
Morrow was honored with P.A.L first team honors in 2014 and a P.A.L second team selection in 2013 and 2015. Serving as team captain, she led her team to the best win percentage and longest win streak at Carlmont volleyball since 2006. She also helped her team to a berth in the Norcals for the first time in Carlmont volleyball history. Morrow was a 2014 Junior Nationals Bronze Medalist in the National Division (Red Rock).
"Alexis is a dynamic and highly competitive middle blocker who will bring a quickness and level of athleticism we love to have in the middle blocker position," Black said. "She is clear on what she wants and where she is headed as a player. I fully expect Alexis to shatter the initial expectations for her career when it is all said and done at LMU. She wants it, and she's hungry to put in the work to get it."
Johnson has been a big weapon for her NorCal Volleyball Club team that qualified for Junior Nationals in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Serving as a team captain, she helped guide her team to a second-place finish at NCS in 2013, 2014, and 2015. She has also been recognized with the Coaches Award in 2015, earned an Athletic Scholar award, was a first team All-American in DFAL, and a first team All-American in the East Bay during high school.
"Emma represents what our program is about in so many ways, and we are thrilled to have her enter our program in 2016," Black said. "One of my favorite things about Emma is she is always growing, always improving, no matter how formidable the challenge may appear. She takes it on with a sense of thrill and excitement where others may cower. She can hit with power and her coaches have trained her in a strong system. She will only continue to grow and we cannot wait to help her along that path."
Black's 2015 team played to the program's second-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament Sweet-Sixteen last fall.
