Playing at the inaugural West Coast Conference Beach Volleyball Championship this weekend, LMU (7-18) was one of the final three teams left playing, ultimately dropping matches to WCC Champion Pepperdine and Saint Mary's on Saturday.

LMU advanced into the winner's bracket by way of two wins on Friday, earning a morning match against Pepperdine on Saturday. There, LMU was blanked by the Waves, but did manage to play to three sets at court two where Sascha Dominique and Kekai Whitford won the opener before falling, 16-21, 21-16, 15-11. With the win, Pepperdine earned another point in the Wells Fargo PCH Cup standings.

Playing with one loss in a double-elimination format, LMU dropped into the loser's bracket to face Saint Mary's. The Gaels and Lions played a close match, with LMU eventually falling, 3-2. The Lions recorded victories on the final two courts, as Lindsay Carr and Veronica Nederend topped Madi Wilkerson/Linsdey Calvin, 19-21, 21-16, 15-9. Sara Kovac and Kristen Castellanos cruised to victory on court five, defeating Hannah Liserra/Alex O'Sullivan, 21-7, 21-9. LMU's top two pairs also made a match of it against SMC, taking the Gaels to three sets, but ultimately dropping the third frame, 15-10.

LMU finishes the 2016 campaign 7-18.
