LMU's beach volleyball team (5-14) split a pair of matches at the 2016 USA Volleyball Beach Collegiate Challenge last weekend. The Lions dropped a match, 5-0, to #2 USC, but rebounded nicely to top Concordia, 3-2.

In the victory over Concordia, Avery Bush and Rachelle Suaava posted a win on court one. The duo topped Rachel Flynn/Kaila Ames, 21-18, 21-16.

Kekai Whitford and Sascha Dominique also teamed in a win, defeating Kyra Auten/Tristan Self, 21-19, 21-14, on court three. Finally, Veronica Nederend and Lindsay Carr defeated Madeline Deters/Ellie Ladensack on court four, 21-17, 21-14, to capture the victory.

Playing in the pairs Tournament, Bush and Suaava recorded a first-round victory over USF's Oluoma Okaro/Sara Strangle, 25-23, 21-15, but ultimately fell to Long Beach State's Nele Barber/Rachel Nieto, 21-13, 21-19. Schlange and Nederend also played in the Gold Bracket, dropping an opening-round match to UCLA's Kamila Tan/Zana Muno, 21-8, 21-17. The duo fell into the consolation bracket, where it dropped a match, 21-14, 21-17, to Rachel Flynn/Kaila Ames of Concordia.

LMU will return to action on April 20 when it travels to Cal State Northridge for a pair of matches. The Lions will play the Matadors and UCLA in a neutral site match.
