Aug. 25, 2015 LOS ANGELES - The first day of class for the 2015-16 academic year is technically Monday, but the weekend preceding it will be a busy one on the LMU campus. And LMU Athletics will be at the center of it with men's soccer, women's soccer and women's volleyball all in action.
Move-in Weekend as it is called will start with a triple-header of action on Friday with women's soccer taking on Bucknell at 4 pm. Women's volleyball will then start their season against Virginia in Gersten Pavilion at 5 pm. Men's soccer will then end the day with their season opener at 7 pm against San Jose State.
Action then continues with men's soccer at home against UNLV on Sunday at 1 pm and women's volleyball traveling to face UCLA at 5 pm.
The action on the fields and the court is just a piece of the action over the weekend on the bluff. Here is a look:
Friday, August 28
 Campus Move-in: 9am-3pm
 • S.A.A.C. reps will be selling gear as a part of our spirit sale during move-in. Student-athletes and ASLMU volunteers will be helping new students move in to their dorms, chatting with students while waiting in line to "check in" while handing out the move-in goody bags.
LMU Women's Soccer vs. Bucknell: 4 pm
In-n-out + LMU Volleyball vs. Virginia: 5pm
 • New students and their families are invited for In-n-Out food trucks before the volleyball match vs. Virginia.
LMU Men's Soccer vs. San Jose State: 7 pm
#MeetMeInGersten Pep Rally: 8pm-9pm
 -There will be a number of competitions for exclusive prizes, LMU cheers and Fight Song, and informing students of the history of LMU Athletics through an extended trailer of ESPN's 30-for 30 "Guru of Go".
Saturday, August 29
 LMU Block Party: 7:30pm
 • The birds nest and areas adjacent will be blocked off for the second annual block party for freshmen students. There will be a number of carnival games, food, sno-cones, photo booths, and more.
 • LMU Student-Athletes will be available at the various games and other areas throughout the evening.
Sunday, August 30
 LMU Men's Soccer vs. UNLV: 1 pm
Sundae Fundae: 5pm
 • Event in sculpture gardens for freshmen to meet the more than 100 groups and clubs on camps. LMU Athletics will have a table offering free pennants as a prize to fun games. Student-Athletes will also be on hand to hand out posters/schedule cards, and continue to build relationships on the importance of school spirit and GO LIONS. • There will be a photo booth, food, and the promotion of school spirit in various ways.
