The LMU women's tennis team (2-4) won five of the six singles matches on Saturday en route to defeating Cal Poly (1-4) by a score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Cal Poly took the doubles point by way of victories on all three courts, but LMU battled back nicely with the victories in singles. Junior Ellie Grossman dispatched Hannah Stone in convincing 6-0, 6-2 fashion, while Jessica Perez (6-3, 6-4), Kristine Kouyoumjian (6-1, 6-1), Anna Romeka (6-1, 6-2) and Julia Norlin (6-2, 4-6, 7-5) all earned victories. The victory was the first of the season in dual match play for Norlin, while Kouyoumjian, Perez and Romeka all earned their third.
LMU is now 2-0 against unranked opponents this year, having also defeated UC Riverside at home on January 22. The Lions will look to move to 3-0 against such opponents on February 21 when they head to UC Santa Barbara for a match at 1 p.m.
