BARCELONA, Spain - As a freshman, Evan Payne went on to set school records, scoring more than any other freshman in LMU history. As a sophomore, he is being challenged to be a consistent leader, one who shows up at the highest level every day in every aspect of leading a team. And he is excited for the chance.

The Lions played their final game of the Spain tour, earning a 97-52 win in which Payne played for maybe five minutes, scoring five points. But it doesn't mean he wasn't hard at work. From the pregame routine Head Coach Mike Dunlap stresses to working with the young Lions' roster, Payne is being challenged every day.

Payne talked to LMU Sports Network about the pregame routine, everything that is involved in getting prepared for a game, his new role and the challenges his new coach is asking him to take on as a leader and his excitement for his new team and the final days of Spain.

As for the game, the Lions started with a 9-1 lead and never were threatened as they led by 11 after the first quarter and 19 at the held. Marin Mornar had 29 points, Ayodeji Egbeyemi had 15, Godwin Okonji 12 and Matt Hayes added 10.

The Lions will have the day to explore Barcelona on Thursday before heading home on Friday.
