Having returned from a trip to Alaska where the Lions defeated the Nanooks in a pair of meets, LMU swimming will stay on the road this week, traveling to MPSF-foe San Diego for a meet on Saturday at Noon.

The LMU swimming team set four new pool records last weekend at Alaska's Patty Center Pool. The former 400 medley relay record of 4:57.68 was shattered by all four teams racing last Friday, as the Lions set the new mark by winning in 3:58.27 with a team of Kjirsten Magnuson, Rachel Dekar, Hannah Calton and Katie Rick. Dekar set a new pool record in the 100 breaststroke by one second, winning in 1:06.65 to beat the two-year-old mark of 1:07.83 by Fresno Pacific's Kendall Swanson in 2011. Kristen Clarno had the Lions' third pool record, winning the 400 individual medley in 4:35.79 to beat former Nanook Mariya Pavlovskaya's three-year-old mark of 4:36.05. Clarno also took second place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:10. LMU won eight of the meet's 11 events and finished 1-2 in five of them, including 1-2-3 sweeps in the 200 and 500 freestyles on Saturday to earn the consecutive victories over Alaska. Calton was a three-time winner Saturday for the Lions, winning the 200 butterfly in a pool-record time of 2:04.56 and won the 500 freestyle in 5:09.66. She closed the meet out by swimming the first leg for LMU's winning 400 freestyle relay team, which won in 3:37.83. Calton's 200 butterfly time topped her previous personal-best of 2:04.86, the third-fastest time in LMU history.

The USD swim and dive team most recently had a strong day of swimming action on November 2 in a double dual against Oregon State and UC Davis at the USD Sports Center Pool. The Toreros were edged in the final scores, falling to UC Davis by a final tally of 173.5-123.5 and to Oregon State 154-133, but had a number of outstanding performances on the day. Leading the way was Jackie Taylor winning the 100 freestyle with a career-best 52.37. Taylor also took second place in the 50 free (24.86) and fourth in the 200 free (1:54.49). Meanwhile, Keenan Lineback claimed a first-place finish in the 400 IM (4:23.61). Lineback capped off a strong day with a second-place showing in the 200 fly (2:03.94) and another second-place finish in the 500 free (5:02.55).

Following the meet at San Diego, LMU will return to action on November 21 for the three-day Arena Invitational at East LA College.
