LOS ANGELES - Both of LMU's cross country teams were honored for their outstanding academic achievement during the past season. The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced that LMU's men's and women's cross-country teams have received All-Academic status. In addition, the Lions' Tara Erdmann was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
LMU's men qualified for the honor with cumulative team GPA of 3.14. LMU is one of five teams from the West Coast Conference who received the distinguished honor. The women's team had a cumulative GPA of 3.25, one of seven WCC schools named to the list.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-American Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
NCAA Division I champion Georgetown picked up women's scholar team of the year honors. For the men, five-time NCAA champion Wisconsin were named scholar team of the year.
