SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Adam Trafecanty set an LMU 8K record on Saturday as the Lions men's cross country team finished sixth in the men's event at the Bronco Invite in Santa Clara, Calif. The women's team finished 16
th led by sophomore
Hayden Washington who cracked the top 50.
Trafecanty continues to put up impressive time and finishes as the Lions top finisher to this point in the season. The senior recorded a 23:47.1 time on the 8K course to claim the top spot in LMU history.
He was followed closely by Roberto Ruelas at 23:50.8. The pair finished 11th and 12th respectively. Ruelas's finish marks LMU's third-best time ever.
LMU's other top finishers included Shane Ely (24:13.5), Jacob Wiggers (24:30.8) and Daniel Vaca (24:48.3). Ely moves into the top-10, notching the ninth fastest 8K in LMU history, while Wiggers moves into the top-20 with the 19th best time.
The Lions broke a one-year old record of lowest average team time with a mark of 24:14.1. Last year's team went on to finish fifth in the WCC and were 13th in the region, their highest finish ever in the latter.
The women's team finished in 16th and noted many huge personal bests among the racers.
Washington was the top finisher for the Lions in 47th but beat her personal best by 32 seconds with a time of 21:24.3.
Page cracked 22 minutes for the first time in her collegiate career while improving on her Bronco Invite time from last season by over a minute.
