Weekend Recap: Erdmann Another Record

This past weekend, Loyola Marymount's Tara Erdmann travelled to Northern California for the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational hosted by Stanford University. Erdmann ran the 5k race placing 11th overall in 15:50, setting yet another personal record and school record for the distance. The Lions also competed at the Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine.

In the top section of the night, Erdmann was up against not only some of the top runners in the NCAA, but she also faced top professional runners from Saucony, Brooks, New Balance and Nike. In a loaded field, Erdmann continued to compete with the best and put LMU on the map turning in a top time for the 5k. Erdmann ran 15:50 for the 5k, which is currently the 9th fastest time in the NCAA. Earlier this season, previously run 15:54 for the 5k at Mt. Sac just two weeks earlier, which was already career best. This weekend Erdmann has show whether it is the 5k, 10k or mile, she is out to turn in a top performance running yet another personal best and breaking her own school record.

Also this weekend, the Lions competed in the Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine. The Lions were highlighted by top performances from Tyre Johnson and Alyssa Bellia in the 1500m races, both Lions set personal records with performances that earned them a top-ten placement on LMU's all-time records.

For the men, Tyre Johnson competed in the 1500m race, breaking four minutes for the first time in his career recording a 3:57 finish. This performance puts Johnson 8th all-time at LMU and gives his a career personal best for the distance and a top five finish in his heat. Also for the 1500m, Greg Innes ran 4:02, Mike Evans 4:08, Connor Pastoor 4:08 and Henry Jordan 4:21. RJ Larrieu completed in the 800m race where he recorded a 2:02 finish and a top five finish in his heat.

For the women, freshman Alyssa Bellia continued to record quick times on the track placing second in her 1500m heat on the day. For the 1500m distance, she set yet another personal best in 4:42. This performance also puts her in the top ten all-time at LMU standing at #9 currently. Also for the women Jillian Jaccard and Megan Fairley competed in the 1500m.

This next weekend the Lions will race at the Occidental Invitational in Eagle Rock, CA
