EUGENE, Ore. – Estanis Ruiz placed 10th in the 3000 M Steeplechase at the 2022 NCAA Track and Field Championships on Friday night. Ruiz finished with a time of 8:36.02 in the biggest race of his career.

Ruiz advanced to the finals after a top-5 performance on Wednesday and was the only freshman of the 12-person male finals.

Eight of the ten runners to finish ahead of Ruiz raced with personal record times, a feat that Ruiz hit in the semifinals with a time of 8:29.12.
