Erdmann Breaks Meet Record at UCLA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LMU competed at the RJ/JJK Invite hosted by UCLA this weekend recording yet another successful weekend in the record books. The Lions were highlighted by track star Tara Erdmann who won the mile invitational race and set a new meet record at UCLA. LMU also had strong showing across the board in the 1500m race and 5k.

This Saturday, LMU's Tara Erdmann continued her successful season this weekend with another individual win and record. Erdmann won the Mile invitational race this afternoon, shattering the meet record previously held by UCLA's Murakami by five seconds. Erdmann won the mile race in 4:46 breaking the previous record of 4:51 and winning the race over San Francisco's Culr and UCLA's Murakami. With this performance, Erdmann not only set a meet record but also recorded a new school record for LMU and a personal best. LMU's Sheree Shea also broke five minutes for the mile placing 4th in the same race in 4:55. Both Shea and Erdmann recorded fast splits on the afternoon and had strong showings in a competitive race.

In the 1500m race, the Lions were led by senior Cynthia Chaidez. Chaidez placed 13th overall in 4:44 as the first Lion across the line. Sophomore Caroline Draper led a tight pack of Lions in 4:47 placing 17th overall. Brieanna Delaney and Brittnie Munoz came in close in step in 4:48 placing 18th and 19th respectively. Jessica Mumaugh came in next for the Lions in 5:02 placing 24th and Shea Franklin ran 5:17.

For the men, the Lions were led by freshman Drew Dalton who recorded a 3:57 for the 1500m placing 11th overall. Sophomore Sterling Lockert was close in step finishing in 3:58 placing 12th. Freshman Kevin Joerger and Weston Strum came across the line together in 4:02 while Tyre Johnston recorded 4:04. Oran Arms was close behind in 4:06, while Connor Pastoor and Mike Evans each recorded 4:14. Also for the men, Greg Innes ran the 5k recording a 15:40.
