LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LMU women's tennis couldn't hold off SDSU Aztecs this afternoon falling 6-1. The Lions were highlighted by a doubles win from April Bisharat and Melissa Valenzuela on court one and in singles, Ashley Anderson earned the Lion's solo point on the afternoon.

In doubles play, the Lions earned a win on court one from April Bisharat and Melissa Valenzuela who led the Lions with a 9-7 win over no.44 Ellison/Ellison of SDSU. Valenzuela and Bisharat earned back-to-back wins on the weekend after moving up to the number one doubles spot this week and a big win over a ranked team.On Friday the duo recorded a win over New Mexico State University and were able to keep this momentum into today's play. In other doubles play the Lions were unable to come out with wins on courts two and three and dropped the doubles point to SDSU.

In singles play the Lions were led by a single win from Ashley Anderson. Anderson defeated Olivia Colman of SDSU 6-3, 6-3 on court six to give the Lions their only point of the day. In other singles play the Lions came close to stopping the Aztecs but were unable to stop SDSU. On court one, April Bisharat took Julia Trunk to a ten point tie breaker for a third set, but fell 10-5. On court five, Elisaveta Pironkova was looking for a second win on the weekend and went to three sets with Roxanne Ellison but eventually fell 10-7 in the final set.

Next up the Lions will host their last home match against conference opponents Pepperdine on Thursday March 31, 2011 at 1:30pm.
