Results

Los Angeles, CA - The LMU Women's tennis team got their second win of the season today with a win over Cal State Fullerton 5-2. The Lions secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and two and then wins on four singles courts. April Bishart, Melissa Valenzuela, Miy akin and Reka Rohonyi all recorded singles wins for the Lions.

In doubles play, the Lions defeated Cal State Fullerton on court one and two. Ashley Anderson and Miya Jin defeated Mai/Rodriguez 8-3 on court one. With this win, Anderson and Jin improve their record to 4-3 overall in doubles play and now have two wins in a row. Elisaveta Pironkova and Reka Rohonyi also got their second win in a row and improved their record to 4-3 overall. The duo defeated McIntosh/Sandford 8-4 on court two. On court three, Akhemedova/Dela Cruz defeated Morgan and Valenzuela of LMU 8-3.

After winning the doubles point the Lions continued strong play into singles. On court one, April Bishart earned a singles win for the Lions 6-3, 7-6 making her singles record to 3-3 overall. Melissa Valenzuela got her second straight win making her recede 2-1 overall. After dropping the first set, Valenzuela came back to defeat Malorie dela Cruz 5-7, 6-2, (10-8). Miya Jin earned another win making her record 5-2 overall. Jin defeated Akmedova of CSF 6-2, 6-3 on court four. Jin has won four out of her last four matches in singles. Finally Reka Rohonyi snapped her loosing streak defeating Rodriguez of CSF 6-1, 6-4. In other tennis play, McIntosh defeated Pironkova 6-3, 6-2 on court two and Sandford defeated Anderson 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.

With this win, the Lions are now 2-5 on the season and will next face San Jose State on February 26th at 11:00am.
