Los Angeles - LMU twice came back from a goal down to earn a 2-2 double-overtime draw with Utah to close out the 2009 UCLA Women's Cup on Sunday at Westwood. Sophomore Marissa Zamora scored with seven minutes to play in regulation to send the game into overtime and complete an unbeaten weekend for the Lions (5-3-1).

After tying 1-1 in their last meeting last season at LMU, the two teams again could not be separated after 110 minutes. It was Utah (5-4-1) who drew first blood in the 21st minute when Hanna Terry collected a long ball from the midfield and found the net for a 1-0 lead.

After getting out-shot 7-2 in the first half, LMU came out of the locker room aggressively, raining down four shots in the first eight minutes. It wasn't until the 66th minute that they drew level, however. Freshman Kelsey Wilson crossed in to junior Kelley Lawson, who headed home for her first goal of the year.

Utah regained the lead in the 73rd minute off a free kick. Kelly Isleib hit a low shot that skipped past senior goalkeeper Allyssa Clark.

The LMU goalie would come to the rescue twice more over the next 10 minutes before Zamora again pulled LMU level. At 83:44, senior Lacey Bartels found Zamora providing support from behind and Zamora unleashed a shot from 18 yards out that beat Utah goalie Hannah Turpen.

Bartels had one more shot with 43 seconds left but Turpen pulled off the save and sent the game into overtime. In the first extra 10 minutes, Turpen was called into action twice more to turn away shots from sophomore Brittney Sanford and junior Julie Gallaudet. The Lions also had the best chance in the second overtime, but Bartels was again denied, this team by a defender on the goalline.

In addition to equaling each other's goal total, the teams also had the same number of shots (14). Clark made four saves while Turpen had five saves.

The Lions return home for a pair of games next week, hosting Long Beach State on Friday and Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday.
