Arroyo Grande, CA (March 25) - Loyola Marymount University men's golf finished in a tie for eighth place at the 2005 Fidelity National Title Intercollegiate hosted by Cal Poly on Friday. The Lions finished with a team score of 900 and were led by the fourth place finish of freshman Jason D'Amore.
In his first season at LMU from Mira Costa High School, D'Amore earned his third top-five finish of the season with a three-round score of four-under par 212. He finished with a third-round 73 and has led the Lions in every tournament on the season.
As a team the Lions finished in a tie with Western Kentucky, placing better than fellow West Coast Conference foes Portland and Gonzaga. Taking one-two in the tournament was the WCC's San Diego and Saint Mary's. Up next for LMU is the WCC Championships on April 11-12.
Rounding out the Lions scores was junior Chaz Inouye with a 227 (tie for 37th place), sophomore Brendan von Doehren with a 230 (tie-53rd), freshman Josh Escobedo with a 235 (tie-70th) and sophomore Jason Wilk with a 237 (tie-79th).
