Story from The San Bernardino Sun

LOS ANGELES - It has been a long road for Daryl Pegram, but the San Bernardino native is finally healthy and content with his basketball future. Pegram, a 6-foot-8 junior, is expected to be a major contributor for the men's basketball team at Loyola Marymount. Surgeries on both knees two months apart early in 2003 put his athletic career in jeopardy so he appreciates every minute he is on the court.

"They only gave me about a 40 percent chance of playing again. They told me they couldn't guarantee me anything," Pegram said after the Lions polished off Cal State San Bernardino 86-72 Saturday in an exhibition. "I definitely consider it a blessing that I am still able to play."
