Moscow, ID (Sept. 26) - Playing in just his second tournament as a collegiate player, Loyola Marymount men's golf freshman Jason D'Amore has a one stroke lead after the first two rounds of the 2004 Vandal Fall Classic hosted by the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID on Saturday afternoon.
D'Amore, in his first season at LMU after graduating from Mira Costa High School in May, posted a seven-under 64 in round two. He finished the first two rounds with a 135, one stroke better than Portland's Kevin Beavers and Gonzaga's Stu Bell, each posting a 136.
The third and final round will be played on Monday morning at the University of Idaho Golf Course. The 64 posted by D'Amore ties the LMU record for low round set by Nicolas Beauvy at Rolling Hills Country Club in 1981. With a 73 or better in the third round D'Amore can set the school record for low 54-hole total, which was set by Mike Farrell in 2002 with a 209.
