Los Angeles, Calif. (Sept. 15)--Loyola Marymount University, ranked 15th in the nation, moved to 4-2 on the season, breaking a two-game losing streak with a 19-8 win over Chaminade University. It was the second match in the Lions new LMU Aquatic Center at the Burns Recreations Center.
The Lions showed a balanced attack, getting goals from 10 players throughout the game. In the first period, LMU jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on goals by Andrew Jenson (his first of the season), John Peterson, Kyle Witt and Aaron Eisberg. The first three goals were with Chaminade a man down.
LMU would score four more goals in the second period to take an 8-2 lead into half. In the second, Jensen would score his second of the game and the season. Maiden would add his sixth of the season, while P.J. Rosenquist and Brandon Joffe would notch goals in the period.
Adding six goals in the third and five in the fourth, the Lions would cruise to their fourth win of the season. Freshman Tamas Szego would add four goals and two assists on the afternoon, giving him 10 goals and five assists on the season. Witt and Eisberg both would add a goal to their totals in the third period, as both remain one-two on the teams goal list. Witt has 18 goals and Eisberg has 14 goals on the season. Witt also added four assists on the afternoon, giving him five on the season.
The Lions will take on UC Davis at 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by a game against Princeton on Sunday at 2 p.m. Both games are at the Aquatics Center.
