LMU Snaps Pepperdine's 28-Match WCC Winning Streak With Four-Game Victory

Senior outside hitter Sarah McFarland recorded a match-high 43 kills and had 18 digs to help Loyola Marymount record a four-game victory over Pepperdine and snap the Waves' 28-match West Coast Conference (WCC) winning streak Saturday evening at Firestone Fieldhouse.

LMU also put an end to Pepperdine's 15-match winning streak as the Lions won by scores of 20-18, 12-15, 15-5, 15-4. Loyola Marymount improved to 17-7 overall and 7-3 in WCC play, while Pepperdine dropped to 20-4 on the season and 9-1 in conference action.

The tone was set in the first game as Pepperdine had seven game points but was unable to put LMU away. The opening game took one hour to play and the match lasted 2:35.

Junior outside hitter Eleftheria Koukou (16 kills and 17 digs) and Jaimee Brubacher (13 kills, 16 digs) posted double-doubles for the Lions.

Junior outside hitter Melissa Snow registered a team-high 27 kills and added 16 digs to lead Pepperdine, while sophomore outside hitter Stacy Rouwenhorst recorded a double-double with 23 kills and 10 digs. LMU posted a .316 hitting percentage, while Pepperdine hit only .221 for the match.

Pepperdine returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Westwood to take on No. 8 UCLA in a non-conference match at Pauley Pavilion beginning at 7 p.m.
