Tarantino Named to All-GCC First Team; Three Lions Named Second Team Performers

LOS ANGELES – The 2026 Golden Coast Conference postseason honors were announced on Tuesday morning. Four Lions were recognized on the All-GCC First or Second teams, highlighted by the All-GCC First Team selection for Anna Tarantino. Sophia DeMattia earned an All-GCC Second Team Selection and is joined by Madison Searle and Emison Styris who were both named to both the All-GCC Second Team and the GCC All-Freshman Team.

Tarantino continued to elevate her game over her five seasons at LMU. An All-GCC Second Team selection a year ago, the Naperville, Ill., native has been named to her first All-GCC First Team in 2026. Tarantino ranked ninth in the conference with 48 goals, ranked seventh in steals with 30, and recorded a program-record 39 field blocks in a season to lead the conference.

After leading the conference in assists with 62, DeMattia has been received her first All-GCC postseason honor and has been named to the All-Conference Second Team. The senior attacker has scored 22 goals on the season to rank fifth in overall points with 84. Nobody recorded more assists in conference games than DeMattia, who finished with 19 across six league games.

In her first season of college water polo, Searle has been named both an All-GCC Second Team and GCC All-Freshman Team performer. Searle made 155 saves for the Lions and led the conference with a 8.55 goals against average. Her .512 save percent ranked second in the GCC. Searle posted a 17-4 record in the cage.

Styris, also in her first season at the NCAA level, ranked in the top-10 of several statistical categories across the conference on her way to All-GCC Second Team and GCC All-Freshman Team accolades. Styris ranks seventh in the GCC with 32 assists, second in the conference with 20 field blocks, and fourth with 30 sprint wins. Her .769 win percentage in sprints this season is third best in the league.

The Lions enter the upcoming Golden Coast Conference Championships at the top seed after winning their third consecutive GCC Regular Season title with an unblemished mark in conference play. Tickets for the tournament are now available online at the conference website.
