LOS ANGELES - Freshman
Emison Styris has been named Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week after being a key contributor to LMU's win over Fresno State last weekend.
Styris posted game highs with four goals and five points. She tied the score at 5-5 midway through the second quarter, sparking a run that put the Lions ahead for good. Styris scored the final goal of the first half with eight seconds remaining and opened the third quarter with another score. She added a fourth-quarter penalty shot to seal the victory.
This is the third time this season, and second consecutive week, that the GCC has recognized a Lion with the weekly award.
Anna Tarantino received the honor on Feb. 5 and
Noa Sasover was recognized last week on Feb. 26.
LMU will compete at Convergence this weekend. The #7 Lions will play #20 Wagner and UC Merced at Axelrood Pool in Claremont on Friday. The Lions face #14 Princeton from Haldeman Pool Saturday morning before closing the event back at Axelrood pool against LIU.
