LOS ANGELES – The #48 LMU men's tennis team controlled the match from the start on Friday afternoon to move to 9-1 on the season. The Lions defended home court and defeated Virginia Commonwealth, 6-1.

LMU earned the double's point after taking the wins on Courts 1 and 2.
Max Wuelfing and
Alex Padro Parra won 6-3, allowing
Cesar Cruz and
Emil Kindhult to clinch the point with a 6-3 decision. The third doubles court went unfinished with
Cyrus Ahmad and
Darius Tamaddon leading 5-4.

Cyrus earned the first singles point after starting with a strong 6-0 start and closing out the point 6-3.

After VCU earned their lone point of the day on Court 3,
Kuba Hrynkiewicz won 6-4, 6-4 and Wuelfing moved to 10-0 on the year with the match clinch point on Court 1.

Both Cruz came back to win 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 and Padro Parra closed it out with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 come-from-behind win.

The 9-1 start is the best through 10 games in program history, surpassing the 8-2 start in 2018. The Lions opened that season 15-2.

LMU will remain at home for the next three games to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule with games against Army on Sunday, Hawaii on March 19, and Dartmouth on March 24 all held at the LMU Tennis Center.
