Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

LMU’s Captains Combine for 36 Points in As Tigers Overcome Halftime Deficit

STOCKTON, Calif. – The first and second halves in Wednesday night's game at Pacific had two entirely different stories as LMU and Pacific each saw double-digit leads at different points of the game. The Lions led by six at halftime before the Tigers took over in the second half to win, 65-59.

The game started back-and-forth early until LMU used an 8-0 run to take a 14-8 lead. Jan Vide tied the game before Myron Amey Jr. and Rodney Brown Jr. hit back-to-back threes. The trio all finished in double-digits and accounted for 80 percent of LMU's scoring.

Josh Dalton hit a pair of threes a minute and a half apart to push the Lions to an 8-2 run. LMU's first half lead grew to 10 points with 1:50 left following another Amey three and a pair of free throws from AJ Thomas.

The Lions took a 31-25 lead into intermission after shooting 50 percent (12-24) in the first half and holding the Tigers to 29 percent (9-for-31) from the floor.

Two and a half minutes into the second half, Pacific used a 31-8 run over the next 10-plus minutes to flip a seven-point game into a 16-point pacific advantage for the home team. LMU shot 2-for-11 during that run, while Pacific made 13-of-15 shots.

The Lions closed the game on a 16-6 run over their own with Jan Vide scoring a dozen points during that final 7:24 stretch. Vide led the team in scoring, rebounding, and assists after grabbing six rebounds and dishing out three assists to go along with his 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting.

Defensively, Rick Issanza recorded two blocks and a steal.

LMU will continue on the road with their game at Pepperdine in Malibu on Saturday afternoon.
