LOS ANGELES – Two LMU Lions have earned recognition from the West Coast Conference this week. Tommaso Baldineti has been named WCC Player of the Week and Roberto Barerra Sanchez has been WCC Newcomer of the Week after their performances this past weekend.
 
Baldineti helped lead LMU to a 2-0 record this weekend, with wins over ranked opponents for the first time in his new head coach's career. Baldineti led the Lions in goals (5), assists (7), and total points (12) over the two games. In the win over #18 Brown, Baldineti scored a hat trick on five shots and added a game-high four assists. Baldineti scored or assisted on over half of LMU's goals in the win over the Bears with seven points on 13 total goals. In the second game of the day, Baldineti helped the Lions defeat UC Santa Barbara for the first time since 2009, snapping a 10-game slide between the two programs. Baldineti scored a pair of second half goals and again led the way with a game-high three assists. The Italian also shared team-high marks with two steals as LMU erased a three-goal deficit to defeat the Gauchos by four.
 
 Barrera Sanchez earned the start against #T-19 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday. In his 32 minutes in the cage, Barrera Sanchez matched his season-high mark with his second double-digit save performance and set a new season-best with his .455 save percentage to lead LMU to victory. Barrera Sanchez made 10 saves in the win, but was especially efficient when playing down a man, keeping UCSB to 5-for-17 on powerplays.
 
This is the first set of weekly conference awards for the Lions this season.
