Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

LMU’s Season Concludes in WCC Quarterfinals

UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – #11 LMU men's water polo took an early lead against reigning WCC Tournament Champions California Baptist before the Lancers pulled away with big second and third quarters. The Lions were eliminated from the championships following the 15-11 loss.
 
Bence Barics and Abel Romero Corbalan scored the game's first two goals to give LMU a 2-0 lead. CBU did not get on the board until the 2:54 mark of the first quarter. Alika Naone scored twice in the final 35 seconds to push LMU's lead to 4-1.
 
The Lancers scored six consecutive goals to open the second quarter and take a three-goal lead. Tommaso Baldineti stopped the run with back-to-back goals and pulling the Lions within one, 7-6, at the half.
 
CBU extended their lead with the first three goals after intermission before Roman Saroyan's goal with 2:15 remaining in the third period. The Lancers scored three more times in the final 1:13 of the quarter to extend their lead to 13-7.
 
Jaxon Hoover scored 35 seconds into the fourth quarter to pull the Lions back within five. After a CBU goal, Romero Corbalan scored twice and Naone scored once to make it a three-goal game with just over four minutes to play in regulation. The Lancers added one back for the only goal between the two teams the rest of the way.
 
Naone and Romero Corbalan each finished with three goals apiece and Baldineti finished with two. Baldineti's career totals include 191 goals and 120 assists for 311 points in three seasons at LMU. Romero Corbalan also scored 191 goals in three seasons and added 85 assists for 276 points.
 
In the cage, Finn Friedland made six saves with two steals.
 
In Head Coach David Carrasco's first season, the Lions finished with 13 wins and a winning over record.
