WCC Release
LOS ANGELES - For the second time this season, LMU's
Jevon Porter has been named the Heluva Good Dip WCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Porter helped lead the Lions to two wins this week and extended LMU's win streak in conference to five games, the program's longest since 1991.
Porter recorded back-to-back double-double games, his sixth and seventh of the year. Porter is now top-5 in the WCC with seven double-doubles. Porter averaged 13.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 block in the two wins, playing 30.0 minutes a game to lead the Lions to double-digit victories. In Thursday's home win over Portland, Porter scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds with three steals, two assists, and a block. He followed that performance with 14 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, a block, and an assist in LMU's first win at San Diego since 2017.
Following his Cancun Challenge Championship and MVP Award, Porter earned the conference's Player of the Week for the first time on December 2, 2024.
The Lions open the week on the road, with a trip to Spokane to face Gonzaga on Thursday night before returning home to host San Francisco on Saturday night at Gersten Pavilion.
